Interdisciplinary Training Program in Cognitive Science

 Financial Information

Table A (below) lists stipends for predocs (as per fiscal year 2004) and all other expenses covered for each trainee.

Predocs, FY2004
NIH Stipend $20,772
NIH Fringe Package $8,760 (Plus $1,436 center support)
Travel $500 (To attend one scientific meeting per year)
University Charges (estimate)
Tuition $8,174 (For 2 semesters, not including summer courses)
Student Fees $40/credit (For up to 10 credits/semester with a maximum of $800/year, not including fees associated with summer courses)
Health $2,572 (Full year coverage.  There is a mandatory portion that MUST be paid by students of $9.50/mo.or $57/semester, total of $114/year.)

The university charges may vary from one student to another, depending on factors such as the nature of their health coverage, and the number of credits taken. The above figures should be considered only an estimate.

Important Note: The university charges for tuition, health coverage, etc, will often exceed the fringe package provided by NIH for each trainee. Trainees will be responsible for paying the difference. It is recommended that trainees consult their advisors or department regarding options for supplementary funding.
