Chomsky, N. (1957)
The Hague: Mouton
- Nominator's statement
- Its a shame the author has such trouble accepting the profound insight that his book provides.
comments
- In terms of influence, this is the one, even though it is only a popular summary of his opus "The logical structure..." which nobody reads.
- This work revolutionized the study of language.
- This should absolutely be on the list.
- Eventhough I think Chomsky's ideas are seriously mistaken, he should certainly be on this list and this is probably the book to list.
- Two of Chomsky's works belong in the list. The Review of Verbal Behavior showed the limitations of the then current behavioral studies of language, and Syntactic Structures because it suggested viable alternatives.
