- Could you please give me more info on the three theorists, Piaget Bruner and Vygotsky?
comments
- This is indeed a seminal work. Vygotsky presents an interesting critique of Piaget's notion of egocentric speech and provides many original observations of his own. Vygotsky's account of the development of inner speech is particularly important, leading, as it did, to a fruitful body of research.
- Absolutely! This has and continues to influence those who wish to take a more nuanced approach to acquisition of language than Chomsky's black box.
- This book is essential for those who want to really understand language and cognition (or language as a domain inside cognitive sciences). It is not possible to mention Piaget and Bruner without mentioning Vygotsky, and neither Piaget nor Bruner could be forgotten.
- This book should be on the list not only because of its great influence on many people's work but also because of its depth and quality.
