The Ecological Approach to Visual Perception
Gibson, J. J. (1979)

Nominator's statement

It was a revolutionary and completely novel way of understanding perception (and cognition). It integrated perception and cognition in a way that had never been done before. It put perception in the context of evolutionary theory, and stressed the functionality of perception.
