Frames of mind: The theory of multiple intelligences
Gardner, H. (1983)
New York: Basic Books
- Nominator's statement
- The revolutionary proposition that I is a multiple construct, with attendant implications for education, intelligence, cognition and human development is, to my mind, on a very short list for outstanding scientific contribution of the 20th century.
comments
- The idea that intelligence is a multiple construct certainly was not the idea of Howard Gardner, and it is completely ahistorical to think so. Further, the book provides no new and serious data to bolster this claim. This nomination confuses popularity with importance.
- The idea has been around for a long time, and Gardner has not succeeded in supplying critical validation.
- An excellent, fascinating work!
