Bruner, J. R., Goodnow, J. J., & Austin, G. A. (1956)
New York: Wiley
- Nominator's statement
- In this book, Bruner et al. report a series of ground-breaking studies on human concept formation and inductive reasoning. The concept formation task they designed became a standard research paradigm. Their findings on hypothesis formation and modification remain unchallenged until now. The book's contribution to the study of human cognition is as classic as Bartlett's "Remembering". This book was reprinted in 1986, more than 30 years after its first publication.
