Men, management, and mental health
Levinson, H., Price, C.R, Munden, K., Mandl, H., & Solley, C.M. (1962)
Cambridge, MA: Harvard University Press

Nominator's statement

This text introducted such critical cognitive concepts regarding superior/subordinate and individual/organization relationships, such as: "the unwritten contract", "interdependence", and "the psychology of change in organizations conflict resolution". Moreover, the content seems unemcumbered by the passing years: as valid today as the year it was written. Levinson gets to the very root of human motivation by discussing our deep seeded psycological needs of dependency, affections and aggression, and how they affect our work-lives. Other of H. Levinson's texts have been widely recognized as great works (Psychological Man, 1976; The Great Jackass Fallacy, 1974; etc., but this one seems to be the root.
