A review of Skinner's
Chomsky, N. (1959)
Language, 35, 26-58
- Nominator's statement
- Chomskys review was non-academic in its aggressive tone and biased representation of Skinner. It is responsible for the distorted view of behaviorism which dominates cognitive science and it has had a very destructive influence on psychology.
comments
- Chomsky didn't understand Skinner's position. Skinner's behavioral analysis of language has proven more useful in the therapy of language disorders than Chomsky's abstractions.
