Foundations of Cyclopean Perception.
Julesz, B. (1971)
Chicago, IL: The University of Chicago Press.

Nominator's statement

Although Julesz's original work on random dot stereograms and textures was first published in the 60's in various places including the Bell Labs technical reports, this book brought these important phenomena to the attention of the broader research community. Julesz's finding that depth-from-disparity preceded object recognition influenced the subsequent object-recognition models of Marr and others.
